Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during August 2019 in Horsholm was 23.0 Celsius, and that was around 2 degrees above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 13.0 Celsius, and that was over a degree above the August normal.   

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 28.4 Celsius on the 28th, but the temperature also rose above 28 on both the 26th and 27th. The warmest weather occurred during the second and final weeks of August, although there were only 3 other days when maxima exceeded 25 , the 10th, with a high of 25.7, the 25th with 26.9 and the 31st with 26.3 On most days maxima were between 20 and 25 , but there were a few rather cool days. On 6 days the temperature failed to reach 20 , with all the cooler days occurring between the 13th and 21st. The only day to have a maximum temperature below 19 was the 13th when 17.3 was recorded.

There were a few warm nights during August, and on the 28th the temperature only fell to 19.3. There were 3 other nights when the temperature stayed above 15 Celsius (63F), including the 11th when the minimum temperature was 16.8, and the 29th when 17.3 was recorded. Although the temperature fell below 12 on 12 nights, there was only 1 night when the temperature fell below 10. That was the 22nd when 9.3 was recorded.

Frost

There were no frosts during  August.   

Rain

There were  81.4  millimetres of rain during August and that was around 25% above the monthly average. There were 20 days of measurable rain, and that was about 4 days above normal for August. The rain that fell was often heavy, and the 19 wet days (1 millimetre or more) were 9 days above normal. Daily rainfall exceeded 10 millimetres on 3 days, the 8th, 17th and 19th. the wettest day was the 19th when 13.6 millimetres of rain fell. Rain fell on 16 consecutive days beginning on the 6th, but a brief return to Summer resulted in 6 consecutive dry days between the 22nd and 27th.

Hail

Small hail was observed on the morning of the 14th.

Thunder

There were 6 days with thunder; the 8th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 28th and 31st. The final storm, on the evening of the 31st was overhead Horsholm for a while.

Snow

There was no sleet or snow observed in Horsholm during August. 

Wind

The wind during August was mainly between southeast and southwest with southwesterly winds dominating. It was breezy at times during the second week, otherwise gentle or moderate breezes prevailed.   

Fog

There was no fog observed in this part of Horsholm during August.
