Weather in Horsholm – June 2020



Rather Dry and Pleasantly Warm

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during June 2020 in Horsholm was 22.3 Celsius, and that was close to normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 11.4 Celsius, and that was very slightly below the June normal.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 28.8 Celsius on the 25th, but there were 5 other days when the temperature rose above 25 Celsius, including a high of 28.0 Celsius on the 26th. Apart from the 11th, which recorded a high of 25.3 Celsius, all the warmer days occurred after the 18th. The coolest weather generally occurred around the end of the first week. On the 6th, the temperature only rose to 14.5 Celsius, and although each day between the 4th and 9th had maxima below 20 Celsius, the second coldest day of the month was 17.3 Celsius on the 5th. There were 2 other days when the temperature failed to reach 20 Celsius, the 21st and 30th, with highs of 19.5 and 19.0 Celsius respectively.

There were a few fairly warm nights in June. These mainly occurred after mid month, although the warmest night was the 12th with a minimum of 16.6 Celsius. A total of 4 other rather warm nights occurred with minima above 15 Celsius, including the 20th, with a low of 16.4 Celsius, and both the 13th and 26th, when 16.2 Celsius was recorded. No cool nights occurred after mid-month, and the last night with a minimum below 10 Celsius was the 15th when 6.4 Celsius occurred. There were 4 other nights when the temperature fell below 7 Celsius. The 1st had a low of 5.7 Celsius, and 3 consecutive nights, beginning on the 8th, were also cool. However, just 1 of these days had a minimum below 6 Celsius, and that was the 10th with 5.4 Celsius, making it the coolest day of the month.

Frost

No air frost occurred during the month. 

Rain

There were 35.2 millimetres of rain during June, and that was around 25% below average. Rain fell on 9 days, and that was 3 days below average, and wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, amounted to 7, and that was close to average. The first 4 days of June were dry, but heavy rain on the 5th, amounting to 12.8 millimetres, and heavy showers on the 6th gave another 8 millimetres of rain. This was followed by 5 more dry days, and after 1.4 millimetres on the 12th, another 5 dry days were observed. An unsettled spell of weather resulted in 4 out of 5 days with rain between the 18th and 22nd. However, the wettest day, the 19th, only had 3.4 millimetres of rain. After 5 more dry days, less than 1 millimetre of rain fell on the 28th, but the last day of June received 4.2 millimetres.

Hail

There were 2 days with thunder. Thunderstorms occurred around mid afternoon on the 6th, and mid morning on the 19th.

Snow

Wind

The wind during June varied considerably. On 10 occasions, mainly the cooler days, the wind was predominantly from the northwest, but on the warmer days a southeasterly wind blew, and this accounted for 8 of the daily wind observations. It was not a particularly breezy month, with light or gentle winds dominating, although at either end of the month it was a little more windy.

Weather in Horsholm – May 2020

Very Cool and Rather Wet

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during May 2020 in Horsholm was 15.6 Celsius, and that was nearly 3 degrees below normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 5.0 Celsius, and that was about 2 degrees below the May normal.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 21.8 Celsius on the 31st, but there were only 3 other days when the temperature rose above 20 Celsius. On the 10th 20.2 Celsius was recorded, with 20.1 Celsius on the 26th and 20.6 Celsius on the 30th. There were only 12 more days when the temperature exceeded 15 Celsius, with just 3 of these less cool days occurring before mid month. All the coolest days, with temperatures below 12 Celsius, occurred during the first 2 weeks of May. The lowest temperature was 9.3 Celsius on the 11th, and that was almost 11 degrees cooler than on the previous day. It was the first of 3 consecutive very cool days, and on the 13th a high of 10.8 Celsius was recorded.

There were no mild nights during May. In fact, the minimum of 9.8 Celsius on the 23rd, was the only night with a low above 9 Celsius, and just 3 further nights had minima above 8 Celsius. On most nights (18) minimum temperatures were between 4 and 8 Celsius with the higher readings mainly occurring towards the end of the month. Several cold nights occurred with minima below 3 Celsius, including 4 consecutive nights beginning on the 11th. The lowest temperature was minus 0.9 Celsius on the 12th.

Frost

Air frost occurred on 2 nights during May. All 4 nights between the 11th and 14th had minimum temperatures below 1 Celsius, including a low of 0.1 Celsius on the 13th. The 12th had an air frost, and the other night was the 14th when a low of minus 0.7 Celsius was measured. 

Rain

There were 34.4 millimetres of rain during May, and that was around 30% above average. Rain fell on 14 days, and that was 3 days above average, and wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, amounted to 7, and that was close to average. Light rain fell on 4 of the first 5 days of May, but this was followed by 9 days of dry weather, except for the 12th, when showers gave 1.6 millimetres of rain. It was very changeable between the 15th and 19th, with 5 millimetres of rain recorded on the 16th, and 7.8 millimetres on the 18th. After a further 3 dry days, a short unsettled spell produced 7 millimetres on the 23rd and 4.4 millimetres on the 24th. The last 6 days of the month were dry.

Hail

Soft hail or graupel showers fell on the afternoon of the 12th.

Thunder

There was no thunder heard in Horsholm during May.

Wind

The wind during May was predominantly from the northwest (17 days), with a further 9 days having southwesterly winds. The northwesterlies were quite strong at the end of the first week, and the southwesterlies were strong around mid month. During the last week of May, breezes were mainly light or gentle.

Rather Cold and Dry

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during April 2020 in Horsholm was 13.3 Celsius, and that was around normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 1.9 Celsius, and that over a degree below the April normal.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 20.2 Celsius on the 23rd, and on the 22nd the temperature reached 19.3 Celsius. There were, however, only 3 other days when the temperature exceeded 16 Celsius, the 12th, 20th and 21st, although on each of these days the maximum was above 17 Celsius. On many days (14) the maxima were between 12 and 15 Celsius, but there were a few cool days. On 6 occasions the temperature failed to rise above 10 Celsius. and on 3 of these cooler days the temperature stayed below 9 Celsius. The high on the 3rd was 8.5 Celsius, with 8.2 Celsius recorded on the 13th and 8.3 Celsius on the 29th.

There were no mild nights during April. In fact, the minimum of 7.6 Celsius on the 12th, was 1 of only 3 nights with minima above 5 Celsius. The others were the 15th, with a low of 6.2 Celsius, and the 24th, when 6.3 Celsius was recorded. On most nights (17), the minimum temperature was between 0 and 4 Celsius, but there were several colder nights, and on the 18th a minimum of minus 3.0 Celsius occurred.

Frost

Air frost occurred on 8 nights during April. Normally 9 frosts can be expected. The frosts were clustered in 2 groups, between the 8th and 11th, and from the 17th and 22nd, with each of these 2 groups having 1 frost-free night. Apart from on the 18th, all the frosts were slight, with the second coldest night of the month, the 11th, having a minimum of minus 1.8 Celsius, and with 5 of these frosty nights having minimum temperatures above minus 1.0 Celsius. 

Rain

There were only 20.4 millimetres of rain during April, and that was around 70% of average. Rain fell on 10 days, and that was near average, and wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, amounted to 6, and that was also close to average. The first 2 days of the month had rain, but this only amounted to 3.4 millimetres. Thereafter, just 1.2 millimetres of rain fell during the following 21 days. The last week of April became unsettled with rain recorded on 6 out of the last 7 days of the month. Most of the rain was light, but 3.8 millimetres were measured on the 24th, and 7.6 millimetres on the 30th, the wettest day of the month.

Wind

The wind during April was mainly from the northwest, with a few days of breezes from between southeast and southwest, these mainly occurring at either end of the month. Winds from the southwest were particularly strong on the 2nd, and the 3rd was also a windy day. There were fresh, and cold, northwesterly winds during the second week of April, and the last 2 days of the month had cold, brisk winds from east to southeast.

Weather in Horsholm – March 2020

Very Dry and Rather Mild

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during March 2020 in Horsholm was 8.4 Celsius, and that was around 1.5 degrees above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 0.3 Celsius, and that was close to the March normal.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 12.6 Celsius on the 27th, but there were 4 other days with maximum temperatures above 10 Celsius, including a high of 11.1 Celsius on the 17th, the second mildest day of the month. All of these milder days occurred after mid month, but there were no particularly cold days. However, there were 4 days with maxima below 6 Celsius, and 3 of these colder days occurred between the 22nd and the 29th, although the lowest value on these 3 days was only 5.7 Celsius on the 22nd. The coldest day of the month was the 3rd with a high of just 4.2 Celsius.

There were no especially mild nights during March. In fact, the low of 6.2 Celsius on the 18th was the only minimum temperature above 5 Celsius. On 4 consecutive nights beginning on the 9th, the temperature stayed above 3 Celsius, but apart from on the 18th, only 2 more nights had minima above 3 Celsius. Several cold nights occurred towards the end of the month and on 4 occasions the temperature fell below minus 4 Celsius. The lowest temperature was minus 5.7 Celsius on the 31st, but minus 5.5 Celsius preceded the mildest day of the month on the 27th, and minus 5.4 Celsius was recorded on the morning of the 14th.

Frost

Air frost occurred on 12 nights during March. Normally 14 frosts can be expected. The only frost before the 21st occurred on the 14th, but each night from the 21st until the end of the month had a frost. Interestingly, on 5 of these frosty nights, the minimum temperature was lower than during the winter months of December, January and February. 

Rain

There were only 19.6 millimetres of rain during March, and that was around 70% below average. Rain fell on 14 days, and that was 3 days below average, and wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, only amounted to 5, and that was 7 days below average. The first 2 days of the month were dry, but then rain was measured on the following 11 days. Most of it was light, but 4.2 millimetres were recorded on the 10th, with 5.4 millimetres falling on the 12th. After the 13th, precipitation occurred on just 3 days producing a meagre total of 1.8 millimetres.

Sleet or snow fell on 1 day during March, and that was in the early hours of the 29th when rain turned to sleet and wet snow for a couple of hours producing a very temporary covering of slush.

The wind during March was mainly from between south and west (20 days). It was not particularly strong, except during the second week, especially on the 11th, and even more so on the 12th when southwesterly gales occurred.  

Fog

Exceptionally Wet, Mild and Windy

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during February 2020 in Horsholm was 7.0 Celsius, and that was nearly 3 degrees above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 2.4 Celsius, and that was more than 3 degrees above the February normal.  .

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 11.7 Celsius on the 16th. This was the only maximum temperature above 10 Celsius, however, the temperature reached 9.8 Celsius on the 1st, and there were a further 12 days when the temperature peaked at between 7 and 9 Celsius. No particularly cold days occurred during February, and although there were 8 days when the temperature failed to reach 6 Celsius, the temperature stayed below 4 Celsius on only 1 of these days. That day was the 26th when the top temperature was 2.4 Celsius.

There were no especially mild nights during February. however, there were 2 nights when the minimum temperature was above 5 Celsius. On the 1st, a low of 6.7 Celsius was recorded, and on the 16th a minimum of 6.0 Celsius was measured. On most nights (18), the minimum temperature was between 2 and 5 Celsius. but there were a few rather cold nights, these mainly occurring at either end of the month. However, the temperature only fell below 1 Celsius on 4 occasions. The lowest minimum was minus 3.2 Celsius on the 27th.

Frost

Air frost occurred on only 3 nights during February. Normally 15 frosts can be expected. The first frost occurred on the 5th, when minus 2.8 Celsius was recorded, with 2 consecutive frosts on the 27th and 28th. The minimum temperature on the 28th was minus 1.8 Celsius. 

Rain

There were  100.4  millimetres of rain during February and that was almost 3 times the monthly average. Overall, in Denmark, it was the wettest February since records began in 1883. There were 25 days of measurable rain, and that was about 11 days above normal for February. There were 20 wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, and that was also 11 days above average. Rain during the first week was fairly light with only 5.2 millimetres measured. During the first 8 days of the month there were actually 3 dry days. Only 1 other dry day occurred and that was on the 27th. On the 9th, 12 millimetres of rain fell, and 6 other days had more than 5 millimetres, including the 11th with 9 millimetres and the 25th with 17.8 millimetres.

Sleet or snow fell on 3 days during February. Sleet showers occurred in the early hours of the 11th, with sleet late in the evening of the 25th. Overnight, rain and sleet turned to wet snow and there was a 2 centimetre layer for a while on the morning of the 26th.

Wind

The wind during February was almost entirely from between south and west (27 days). On many days the wind was fresh or strong, and on the 25th it reached gale force in the evening.

Weather in Horsholm – January 2020

Exceptionally Mild and Damp

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during January 2020 in Horsholm was 7.1 Celsius, and that was over 3 degrees above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 2.8 Celsius, and that was also more than 3 degrees above the January normal.  Overall, Denmark had its mildest January since records began in 1883.

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 11.4 Celsius on the 15th. This was the only maximum temperature above 10 Celsius, however, the temperature reached 9.4 Celsius on the 8th, and there were a further 15 days when the temperature peaked at between 7 and 9 Celsius. No particularly cold days occurred during January, and although there were 8 days when the temperature failed to reach 6 Celsius, the temperature stayed below 5 Celsius on only 1 of these days. That day was the 2nd when the top temperature was 2.7 Celsius.

There were no especially mild nights during January. however, there were 2 nights when the minimum temperature was above 5 Celsius. On the 24th, a low of 5.9 Celsius was recorded, and on the 31st a minimum of 6.0 Celsius was measured. On most nights (16), the minimum temperature was between 3 and 5 Celsius. but there were a few rather cold nights, these mainly occurring during the second half of January. On 6 occasions the temperature fell below 1 Celsius, including 4 of the 5 nights between the 19th and 23rd. The temperature fell to minus 1.7 and minus 1.9 Celsius on the 22nd and 23rd respectively, but the coldest night of the month was the 5th when the temperature dipped to minus 3 Celsius.

Frost

Air frost occurred on only 4 nights during January. Normally 17 frosts can be expected. The first frost occurred on the 5th, with further air frosts on the 19th, 22nd and 23rd. 

Rain

There were  47.0  millimetres of rain during January and that was over 10% above the monthly average. Overall, in Denmark, it was the wettest January since records began in 1883. There were 28 days of measurable rain, and that was about 11 days above normal for January. There were 13 wet days, when 1 millimetre or more of rain was measured, and that was only 4 days above average, so the month could be described as damp rather than particularly wet. The first completely dry day was the 2nd, but none of the first 8 days of January had more than 3 millimetres of rain. On the 9th, a total of 7.8 millimetres was measured, making it the wettest day of the month. A further 4.4 millimetres fell on the 12th, but the second dry day of the month followed it on the 13th. Another 5.2 millimetres were measured on the 14th, followed by many days of patchy drizzle and some heavy dews. The remaining dry day occurred on the 22nd, with the last 2 fairly wet days occurring on the final 2 days of the month. On the 30th, a total of 6 millimetres of rain fell, with 3.8 millimetres recorded on the following. day.

The wind during January was mainly from the southwest (23 days) with the occasional variable or south to southeast wind. On many days the wind was fresh or strong, although it was somewhat lighter during the fourth week of January.

Although the weather was misty and drizzly at times, no fog was observed.

Weather in Horsholm – December 2019



Very Mild and Rather Dry

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during December 2019 in Horsholm was 6.3 Celsius, and that was almost 3 degrees above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 2.4 Celsius, and that was close to 4 degrees above the December normal. 

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 9.5 Celsius on the 18th, followed by 8.8 Celsius on the previous day along with 8th. There were 8 other days when the temperature rose above 7 Celsius, and in an exceptionally mild start to December, there were 6 consecutive days, commencing on the 3rd, with maxima above 7 Celsius. In a month with very few cold days, the temperature only failed to reach 4 Celsius on 4 occasions. On the 1st, a high of 3.8 Celsius was recorded and the maximum on the 13th was 4.7 Celsius. The coldest days occurred after Christmas. On the 27th, a high of 2.4 celsius was measured, and on the following day the temperature struggled to 0.3 celsius, the coldest day of the month.

There were no exceptionally mild nights during December. However, on 4 occasions, including 3 consecutive nights beginning on the 4th, the temperature remained above 5 Celsius. The mildest night was the 4th with a low of 6.1 Celsius. There were many nights (14) when the minimum was between 2 and 4 Celsius. Most of the colder nights occurred at either end of the month. The first 3 nights had minima below minus 2 Celsius and the temperature on the 10th fell to minus 2 Celsius. The only other night with a minimum below minus 2 Celsius was the 28th. Just 1 of these colder nights had a low under minus 3 Celsius. That was on the 3rd when minus 3.7 Celsius was recorded.

Frost

Air frost occurred on 7 nights during December. The first 3 nights of the month were frost, as were the 3 nights between the 27th and 29th. Remarkably, there was just 1 more air frost, and that occurred on the night of the 10th. 

Rain

There were  44.0  millimetres of rain during December and that was almost 20% below the monthly average. There were 21 days of measurable rain, and that was about 5 days above normal for December. Only 2 dry days occurred during the first fortnight of the month, and although much of the rain was light, on the 6th a total of 5 millimetres fell, with 9 millimetres falling on the 8th. Another 5 millimetres fell on the 15th, but thereafter amounts of rain were small. In fact, during the second half of December less than 8 millimetres of rain fell, with 5 out of the last 6 days of the month having no measurable rain.

Wind

The wind during December was mainly from the southwest with winds more variable, and occasionally from the southeast, during the second half of the month. it was often windy during the first half of the month, with the 15th a particularly windy day. Later in the month, especially during the last week, winds were much lighter.  

Fog

There was fog for much of the day on the 20th.



Weather in Horsholm – November 2019

Very Mild and Damp

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during November 2019 in Horsholm was 8.1 Celsius, and that was about 1 degree above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 3.9 Celsius, and that was close to 4 degrees above the November normal. 

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 11.7 Celsius on the 3rd, followed by 11.1 Celsius on the 2nd. There were no other days with maxima above 10 Celsius, but on 14 days the temperature rose above 8 Celsius. There were no cold days during November, but on 7 occasions the temperature failed to rise above 7 Celsius. This included 2 days with highs below 6 Celsius. The temperature on the 6th only reached 5.3 Celsius, with 5.7 Celsius measured on the 30th. On the 29th, although the temperature was above 6 Celsius for a while overnight, late morning and early afternoon values were only around 1 or 2 Celsius.

There were several mild nights during November, and on 15 nights the temperature stayed above 5 Celsius. Unusually, only 3 of these milder nights occurred before mid month. Every night between the 18th and 28th had a minimum of 5 Celsius or more, and this included 3 nights with lows above 7 Celsius. The mildest night was the 21st with a minimum of 7.6 Celsius. There were no particularly cold nights during November, and although the temperature fell below 2 Celsius on 10 nights, only 2 nights had a minimum below 0 Celsius. The coldest night was the last night of the month with a low of minus 2.4 Celsius.

Frost

There were 2 air frosts during  November, but the frost on the 29th was very slight with the temperature only falling to minus 0.1 Celsius. 

Rain

There were  50.2  millimetres of rain during November and that was almost 20% below the monthly average. There were 24 days of measurable rain, and that was about 8 days above normal for November. On the 2nd, 5 millimetres of rain fell, but there were only 2 other days when rainfall exceeded 5 millimetres, the 16th with 9.4 millimetres and the 22nd with 5.8 millimetres. In a month with only 6 days without measurable rain, consecutive dry days occurred only once. The 13th and 14th both failed to record measurable rain.

Rather mild and Wet

Temperatures

The average maximum temperature during October 2019 in Horsholm was 12.8 Celsius, and that was about a degree above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 6.0 Celsius, and that was very close to the October normal. 

The highest temperature recorded during the month was 16.2 Celsius on the 14th, closely followed by 16.1 Celsius on the 13th and 15.8 Celsius on the 15th. The temperature reached 15.1 Celsius on the 27th, and there were 8 other days when the temperature rose above 14 Celsius. the coolest weather was at either end of the month, and although there were no especially cold days, the temperature failed to reach 10 Celsius on 6 occasions. However, there was only 1 day when the temperature stayed below 9 Celsius, that was the 29th when a high of 8.4 Celsius was recorded.

There were several mild nights during October, and on 6 occasions the temperature remained above 10 Celsius. On 2 of these milder nights the temperature stayed above 11 Celsius. On the 16th a low of 11.3 Celsius occurred, but 11.5 Celsius was measured on the night of the 26th. There were 11 nights when minima were between 8 and 10 Celsius, but during the first and last weeks of October there were some cold nights. There were 11 nights with minima below 5 Celsius with all these colder nights occurring before the 9th and after the 27th. A total of 7 nights had minimum temperatures below 2 Celsius, including 4 nights with lows under minus 2 Celsius. The lowest temperature was minus 3.1 Celsius on the 7th, but minus 2.9 celsius occurred on both the 6th and 30th.

Frost

There were 5 air frosts during  October. these occurred between the 5th and 7th, and on the 29th and 30th. 

Rain

There were  83.2  millimetres of rain during October and that was about 40% above the monthly average. There were 21 days of measurable rain, and that was about 6 days above normal for October. On the 2nd, over 5 millimetres of rain fell, but 5 out of the first 6 days of the month were dry. Thereafter, only 1 dry day occurred (14th) between the 7th and 21st. Some of the rain was heavy, with 6.6 millimetres falling on the 8th, a mighty 27.8 millimetres on the 11th, over 6 millimetres on the 15th and more than 8 millimetres on the 19th. Over 5 millimetres of rain fell on the 25th, but the last 10 days of October had less than 12 millimetres of rain, and there were actually 4 completely dry days.

Wet, but Mild

Temperatures The average maximum temperature during September 2019 in Horsholm was 17.0 Celsius, and that was slightly above normal for the time of year. The average minimum temperature was 10.0 Celsius, and that was over a degree above the September normal.    The highest temperature recorded during the month was 22.1 Celsius on the 1st,  and the only other maximum above 20 was the 20.1 Celsius recorded on the 3rd.  There were 3 other days when the temperature rose above 19 , with the last of these on the  22nd when a high of 19.4 Celsius occurred.   There were no maxima below 16 Celsius before mid month, but 10 of these cooler days occurred during the second half of September. There were 5 consecutive cooler days beginning on the 16th, and this spell included the 2 coolest days of the month. On the 17th a high of 13.0 Celsius occurred, with 13.4 Celsius recorded on the following day. There were many mild nights during September, and although the minimum of 14.6 Celsius on the  10th was the only value above 13 Celsius, there were 13 nights with minima between 11 and 13 Celsius, and a further 5 nights with lows between 10 and 11 Celsius. There were no particularly cold nights during September, but on 6 nights, in fact consecutive nights, beginning on the 17th, the temperature fell below 8 Celsius. The lowest  value of 4.9 Celsius occurred on 3 nights, the 19th, 20th and 22nd Frost There were no frosts during  September.    Rain There were  100.2  millimetres of rain during September and that was over 50% above the monthly average. There were 23 days of measurable rain, and that was about 5 days above normal for September. The rain that fell was sometimes heavy, and the 16 wet days (1 millimetre or more) were 6 days above normal. Overall, Denmark had it’s wettest September for 18 years. Daily rainfall in Horsholm exceeded 10 millimetres on 3 days, the 10th, 18th and 27th. The wettest day was the 18th when 17.0 millimetres of rain fell.  Hail No hail was observed in this part of Horsholm Thunder No thunder was heard during September.

Snow

There was no sleet or snow observed in Horsholm during September.  Wind The wind during September was mainly between southwest and northwest with southwesterly winds dominating.  Apart from the 8th,  when the wind was calm for most of the day, September was often breezy, especially around the middle of the month, and again on the last day when the west to northwesterly wind was strong at times.    Fog There was no fog observed in this part of Horsholm during September.
